Is Windows 8.1 Causing Lag In Some Games?

If you use the PC as a gaming platform, this may not be news you want to hear. Microsoft’s recent update to Windows 8.1 might be hurting your game. Depending on the type of games that you play or the brand of mouse that you own. There has been some talk online claiming that the update toWindows 8.1 might render some games unplayable. Due to lag.

The culprit seems to be an improvement in handling DPI for multiple monitors. The changes in the DPI framework have also resulted in games which do not rely on Raw Input or DirectInput to have a huge amount of mouse lag.
Some of the offending games that are allegedly affected are Deus Ex: Human Revolution, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Prypiat, Metro 2033 and some titles in Activision’s Call of Duty series. It also seems to affect mice products with a high polling rate and high DPI. Have you had any problems with any of these after the update? Let us know if you have. Microsoft has not commented on the issue yet, but hopefully they are figuring it all out and it won’t take long to get a fix. Gamers do not want to waste time with problems like this.
