According to Artem Russakovskii from Android Police, Google will announced their Nexus smartwatch later this month, the device is said to be codenamed ‘Gem” and will apparently be announced on the 31st of October.
Google are also expected to release Android 4.4 KitKat at the same time, the device is expected to work with Google’s new Nexus 5 smartphone and other Android devices.
We previously heard that Google are rumored to be holding a press event on the 14th of October, where they are expected to announce the Google Nexus 5, and the device is rumored to go on sale on the 30th of October.
This would make sense for Google to release Android 4.4 KitKat on the 31st of October, the day after the release of the Nexus 5 which will be the first handset to come with Android 4.4.
The Google Gem or Nexus Smartwatch could possibly be the rumored Motorola xWatch that we heard about previously, and Google could have decided to release the device under their Nexus brand instead of Motorola’s brand.
