Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch Now Shipping

Last month, Amazon unveiled the Kindle Fire HDX tablets that were available for pre-orders as well. Earlier today, Amazon launched the Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch model, which is available for sale for just $229 for the 16GB WiFi model with “special offers” — it means that ads and sponsored screen savers will be displayed on your homescreen. If you don’t like ads, you can pay an extra $15 that increases the cost to $244 for the 16GB model.

If you think 16GB is not enough for you, you can get the 32GB WiFi model for $269 while the 32GB model would set you back by $309. Spending an extra $100 bucks ($329 for 16GB) would get you the LTE version that works for the AT&T LTE and a separate model that is compatible with Verizon as well. Of course you can add $15 to the regular prices to get the ad-free version.
“With a beautiful 323 ppi perfect-color HDX display, 3x the processing power, 2x the memory, 4x the graphics performance, and Fire OS 3.0, we think customers are going to love the new Kindle Fire HDX,” said Peter Larsen, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. “We can’t wait to get this tablet into our customers’ hands.”
For $229, the tablet would get you a beautiful 7-inch display boasting a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels at 323 ppi, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset with a clock speed of 2.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 16/32/64GB storage options along with the 4G LTE support for Verizon and AT&T. The tablet runs Android’s latest FireOS 3.0 operating system.
