Normally a five year old game does not fly off the shelves suddenly. But that isn’t the case with GTA 4. A UK retailer called Asda is claiming that the GTA 4 title has been selling like crazy while we wait on GTA 5.

Asda’s head of video games Craig Thirkell says that “GTA 4 has been flying off the shelves in anticipation. [GTA 5] marks the first of our midnight launches for 2013. We have a few surprises up our sleeves to keep our customers happy on the night.”

GTA 4 has actually been a consistently good seller since it hit over 5 years ago, moving more than 25 million units worldwide and remaining in the top 10 most played charts on Xbox LIVE for much of the time. So I guess we shouldn’t be surprised. GTA 5 launches next Tuesday, on September 17 on the Xbox 360 and PS3. It just proves that gamers love this franchise.
